Short Course - 4 Pottery Wheel Sessions Sundays - Start date 5th Sept End date 26th Sept (2pm - 3:30pm)
This short course is a whole lot of fun. It involves 4 one and a half hour sessions.
We will focus on basic throwing techniques and centring your clay.
Each successive session will begin with trimming your pot/s in order to neaten the foot.
You will learn the traditional method of pulling a handle so that you can turn your cylinder into a mug or a jug.
We will move on to throwing with more than 1lb clay so you can try for a larger item, a larger mug or a vase or even learning to collar in to create a narrow neck for a bottle - who knows where this might take you ......
At the end of your 4 session block we will fire up to 4 pots free - if you make more - we can fire more at a cost of £5 per pot, so usually it is a case of choosing your best pieces.
Please bring your own apron if possibly and wear older clothing as you will get a little messy.
NB cleaning of wheel and tools must begin 15 mins before the end of the session.
Please be aware that Glaze and Glaze firing is not included in the price of the course but because we have a Paint a Pot studio, our takeaway kits are available with 5 underglaze colour choices at £5 per pot (this includes the 2nd firing fee).
Or you may like to book in to our Paint a Pot Studio for a £5 table booking fee (available to book online) .
Please note that the use of underglazes and equipment still carries a £5 charge per pot but we are on hand to help with techniques and other advice re painting.
The dates are as follows Sunday 5th , 12th , 19th , 26th of September .
Please note this is an adult only workshop.
NB. Space4craft and the workshop tutor will be taking precautions against COVID-19 and we would ask that you bring your own mask and hand sanitiser. (We do have individual hand sanitisers available to use if you do not have your own)
